    1.  The few times that I was unable to locate a nearby opening, I drilled and filed.  Then ran wires into a short length of garden hose to protect the wires as they passed thru the firewall metal opening.  RTV secures the hose and seals the opening to prevent fumes and noise from entering the cabin.2.  My Escalade has a 2nd 12V (sealed) battery mounted in the back to aid in providing DC to a linear amplifier.  The control, coax and power wires are all running under my vehicle.  When running wires/coax under the vehicle, I protect the entire length with water hose/s.  The additional hose thickness and strength protects against rocks and water.  The combined assembly weaves in and around the undercarrage frame and components while never being the lowest point of the vehicle.  I avoid hot and moving parts.  Number #12 insulated solid copper wire works well to secure the hose in various places along it's length.73,Terry, K7FE

If nothing else is found, a section of RG174 fits the tiniest of spaces. Best,Sonny N1KHB In a message dated 4/17/2016 6:21:25 P.M. But I've not yet found a way to get the coax in.Previously, I've been able to gently snake the coax in under thehatchback door of my Toyota 4Runner with no significant deformation ofthe cable. However that is not available of the new truck and the doorson it fit so tightly there isn't enough clearance to snake a cable overany door seal without pinching it badly.Has anyone come up with a good way to get the coax into a similar vehicle?I would like to mount the main body of the radio(s) under the driver'sside, rear passenger seat. There is a convenient compartment there. This will be my 7th HF mobile installation over the years, but I'm a bitstumped. Your suggestions will be appreciated.Ray, W4BYG-- I'm no longer young enough to know everything!______________________________________________________________Mobile-Portable mailing listHome: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/mobile-portableHelp: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htmPost: mailto:Mobile-Portable at mailman.qth.netThis list hosted by: http://www.qsl.netPlease help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________Mobile-Portable mailing listHome: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/mobile-portableHelp: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htmPost: mailto:Mobile-Portable at mailman.qth.netThis list hosted by: http://www.qsl.netPlease help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html______________________________________________________________Mobile-Portable mailing listHome: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/mobile-portableHelp: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htmPost: mailto:Mobile-Portable at mailman.qth.netThis list hosted by: http://www.qsl.netPlease help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
