In an emergency one may use home heating oil - otherwise
I believe it's illegal to use in a vehicle.
I'm guessing they will market the diesel vehicles as dual-
fuel (also biofuel) vehicle in order to meet some absurd
and artificial government (EPA) standard.
A diesel engine is more amenable to biofuels than is a
gasoline engine.
As more and more sources are identified as useful in the
manufacture of biofuel, and the equipment to do so becomes
smaller and more-affordable, perhaps some day diesel engine
vehicles will be 100% locally fuel-sourced ... but that's
a long way off for most owners.
Still, thinking in the context of a large-scale event where
normal fuel supplies are interrupted one might decided to
store fuel and/or figure out a way to make your own biofuel.
Hams are creative and emcomm Hams want to be prepared ...
