Program your mobile wirelessly from your shack.
Hauling your laptop to the car, or your mobile up to the shack, so you can
program new frequencies may not be the biggest pain in the butt you'll face
this week, but wouldn't it be fun to bridge that distance with a few simple
modules that make a "Virtual Serial Cable?"
That's just what John Hansen W2FS demonstrated at the 2009 ARRL and TAPR
Digital Communications Conference.
You can watch John's talk, and 16 other technical presentations on a
six-DVD set from the conference, available from
<http://arvideonews.com/>ARVN:Amateur Radio//Video News.
The 2009 DCC was a three-day conference held in late September near
Chicago. It featured seventeen presentations from hams on the leading edge
of digital communication and experimentation, including equipment design
and construction, Software Designed Radio, AMSAT/ARISSat, packet and D-STAR
networking, advanced APRS, and Digital ATV.
The six DVDs are organized around common topics. Each DVD has several
presentations (details below), and most presentations run about 45 minutes
(good for club meeting programs, if your club leans a bit technical).
You can buy individual DVDs covering the area you're interested in for $15
each (+ $3 shipping), or the whole set for $75 (but still just $3
shipping). The DVDs are produced in NTSC standard definition video.
