[Mobile-Portable] Want to trade:DK-3 for 5BTV

FWIW Dept: Don't eliminate the 6BTV from your search. I really enjoy 30m
CW, and wouldn't take for that capability. It's only a few feet longer
than the 5, and no more difficult to erect. Presently, I use a 5' tripod
with 18" x 18" x 8" concrete footings, and two slightly elevated radials
for each band. Works well, and the radials can be moved around for a bit
of directionality. Downside: lots of manmade noise - vertically
polarized, you know (although not a problem out in the sticks).

I have two of them - sometimes fixed and phased at home QTH (for 40/80
DX) and sometimes portable. I built a mast section that works with the
swivel portion of my bike carrier and my Jeep receiver hitch. I use an
old military tape doublet as counterpoise. The antenna sections are
color-coded with plastic tape for quick assembly in the field, are
carried with bungies on the roof rack, and I can stop anywhere and be
set up and on the air in twelve minutes. (The manual says that it should
be guyed, but you can get away without it except under high wind
conditions.)

Good luck with your search.

Max, K5OVW
