Are you SURE that it's the fuel pump and not the computer? The fuel
pump can often be audibly heard when the ignition is turned on before
the next key position that turns the starter motor. When the fuel
pressure comes up sufficiently to run the engine, it may stop running.
See if your noise coincides with that pump run to prove the source. I
offer this partly because I once had a Grand Marquis only a little
older than your pickup and virtually all of my noise came from the
vehicle computer. After I explained my radio situation to the Ford
dealer, they actually replaced the computer for free (under warranty)
in order to help me. The noise did improve after that, but didn't
disappear completely. Hats off to FMC for their effort!

Subject: [Mobile-Portable] Ford fuel pump noise
Does anyone know if a 95 Ford F-150 pickup uses the same miserable RFI
generating fuel pump as a 94 Ford Aerostar? Mobile HF was swamped by
pump noise in the Aerostar. I have an opportunity to buy the pickup in
great shape for waaayyy under book, but am spooky about the noise
situation.
Any thoughts?
