[Mobile-Portable] Choices for HF Mobile

Until I had to buy new tires for my truck last week-end because one
of them blew up, my Mobile Rig Savings Fund was doing fine. Now, I will
be delayed another couple of months.
Nonetheless, it won't hurt to begin gathering information.
I plan to install HF in my Toyota Tacoma. I have had FM rigs in my
vehicles for 35-years, but this will be my first venture using such low
frequencies.
First question: Aside from the cost, is there any reason not to
choose the Yaesu FT-857D? I don't want to spend that much money, but
the Alinco DX-70TH does not have DSP (as far as I know) and the control
head on the Kenwood TS-480SAT is just too big. (I do not care for Icom
radios, so the IC-706 Mk II-G is not in consideration.) Also, is the Yaesu
FT-100D still available as a new unit and, if so, is it a viable choice?
Second question: I know that it is not ideal, but I want to run just
one antenna (except for VHF and UHF). My idea is to use an 80-Meter or
40-Meter Hamstick along with an automatic tuner like the Yaesu FC-40. Is
this workable? Are the SGC tuners a better choice?
Third question: My original plan to avoid a screwdriver-type of antenna
was guided by my observation that they take too long to lock up. Is this a
misconception? Recent discussion within this group clearly leads to the
conclusion that a screwdriver is the best choice. So, should I abandon my
plan for a Hamstick? If not, is there a better choice than the Hamstick?
Fourth question: Whatever antenna I end up with is going to be
attached to a trailer hitch mount. How do I maximize grounding and what
steps should I take to support the antenna?
Fifth question: What steps should I take to minimize RFI -- both to
protect the truck and to get the best reception?
Your opinions, especially those based on personal experience, are
appreciated.
Many thanks and 73,
