There have been cases of transmitted RF affecting everything from
windshield wipers to electronic ignitions to power brakes. I had one
vehicle where 50 watts of VHF would cause the solid state voltage regulator
to over-charge during the transmission and another where 100 watts of HF
would basically shut down the OnStar cell phone.

All anomalies were successfully corrected with appropriate grounding,
shielding, bypassing and choking, but be careful out there. A lot of these
problems you don't want to discover for the first time on a dark and stormy
night.

Years ago when I ran the Kenwood TS-440SAT into a Hustler 20 meter mobile
antenna, I could hit the tune button on the rig and shut down some of the
cars near mine. It never bothered my car but it didn't take long for me to
realize that the early auto computers weren't well shielded.

However, I notice on my Ford Aspire that when I transmit on 10 meters with a
mismatched antenna (I have one matched for SSB section and one matched for
FM section), The motor stalls a little bit. (I have an IC-706 MKII)
