[Mobile-Portable] Emergency communications was Want advice

I just finished reading up on this in the ARRL Now You're Talking book.  According to the book, it doesn't matter what licences you hold,  if you are having an emergency, or can assist someone who is, you are not restricted by your license.  You can operate on any frequency that you are capable of comunicating on.


My guess is that most people would be rather lenient about what gets called an emergency too.  If I have a flat beside the road, I don't consider that an emergency, even if the spare is flat too.  OTOH, if my wife or daugher is in the same circumstance,  I want them to be able to call for help by any means available.
