Same problem with my 2002 Astro Van. I've seen it blamed on the new
high-energy ignition systems. I had good luck with wrapping the coil and
the distributor with heavy duty aluminum foil on my 94 S10 Blazer. Didn't
get rid of it, but it helped. There's also Magnecor ignition wires.

You might try Rich, K8NDS [email protected]

He works for GM and might be able to shed some light on the problem.

Subject: [Mobile-Portable] 2003 Tahoe Ignition Noise

I am looking for any advice from someone who has been down the road before
me
relative to the terrible iginition noise in a 2003 Chevy Tahoe.

I am amazed that GM lags so far behind the other auto makers in this area.
 I
have friends with Chrysler and Lexus products which are absolutely dead
quiet yet this Tahoe is as bad as any car/truck that I have ever heard.
 Does
anyone have an email address for someone in GM engineering that I can write
to
regarding this? I expect that I will just get a blank stare from the local
Chevy
dealer/rocket scientist!

The noise is not the fuel pump, ignition for sure. The spark plug wires
are
about 6 inches long and lead to a small square box for each spark plug.
 Can
someone explain what is going on here?

Has anyone tamed a Tahoe?
