[Mobile-Portable] Mobile w/Power

Greetings:
I have operated mobile for seven years and love it.  I
am now considering taking the next (risky) step in my
mobile operation.  I would like to try operating with
an amp.  I have read many articles on it including the
ARRL info on it.  I also have some friends who have
tried it.  Some of them successfully and fairly
uneventful and some who had significant problems.  I'm
sure that most know that the big problem is RFI
getting into the many computers that todays vehicles
have.
I know that one should plan on using an auxillary
battery for this, and I already operate with an
auxillary now.
I would appreciate anyones comments, experiences etc.
in installing and operating mobile with a 500 watt
amp. The info could even influence the next vehicle I
purchase.
