No question about it, eBay and UPS have done just about everything they can to discourage or overcharge the small users. Try shipping something thru the UPS Store and see what they end up charging. I once did all my shipping at the UPS Terminal in town, but they shut down the counter there to drive you to the high price UPS Store hacks. It's gotten to the point that all the work I do for others I have a deal where I refuse to do shipping because of the cost, aggravation and damage that occurs. So, it's strictly "Cash and Carry" these days.
Something you may want to consider is if there is a Flight Museum within reasonable distance donating it to them. Often such weird radios are just what they need for some projects or not, but it's a better answer then just trashing it. Radios like unhacked BC-348 and ART-13 are always in demand; I donated a couple that are now in aircraft up at the museum in Dover.

Thanks for the added info. All the original crystals are there. So I guess if your plane can bear the weight you’ll be well equipped even today. What was the glide slope receiver? The manual is for the RC-103-(x) of which the BC-733 is the basic component, the rest being the control box, plugs etc.

Sorry to say, if no one wants this, it goes to landfill. I have had enough of eBay… fees are unpredictable: some in excess of 33% which means listing at ridiculous prices if I ever want to recover anything; picky, uninformed buyers; gotta pack and weigh things before listing in order to determine shipping info, and after all that, it may not sell.

So disheartening to see such a beautifully crafted piece like this go to waste, but as we are all facing the same looming deadline, hard decisions need to be made.

I did manage sell a pair of BC-659’s with accessories to a younger guy (in his forties) who is eager to install them into two jeeps of his. He’s not too savvy electronically, so I am coaching him through the process via email and FaceTime.
