Those old FM radios are wideband. I know the trans deviation can be changed down to current standard, but i suspect the

rec demod won't deliver much audio at all. Maybe, "enough".



I didn't know G&G supplied CB xtals for any surplus set. This is news to me, and i have to admit, i am skeptical until i hear

further evidence, altho i do not dismiss it out of hand. I was one of the very last customers of G&G. I bought 2 of ATB and

a BC-1209 radio. I let my brother sell off the BC-1209, which i sort of regret now, since it covered 80m without any mods.

But - it was a large and heavy beast. One of only 2 that i know exist. Years ago, someone told me the rest went to the

Mexico armed forces. A definite "maybe". I don't recall who told me. Maybe they were just blowing smoke.



My father, after landing in south France with the invasion, was moved from 90mm AA gun crew to optics repair truck in

an amored column going into south Germany. He said the guns were given to the French, as there was "no Luftwaffe left

to shoot down." I think the AA from there on out was lower caliber defensive and more mobile and visually aimed, not

requiring the elaborate 4x 90mm guns + radar + generator trucks + everything else. His assignment while the column was

on the move was to be in a truck of some kind and operate the voice radio, like just report "We're still here". He only was

instructed in how to operate the mic, and didn't remember the details of the set. While still in Italy with the 90mm,

protecting the B-25 base at Basta, his unit was inspected by General Patton - - and failed inspection. I might write up this

incident for the AWA journal - - his unit got a warning from 'Axis Sally' - - so the story is actually "radio related".
