[Milsurplus] Bren-Tronics Battery Charger PP-8444A/U

Does anyone have one of these?
I just got one and think that the designer flunked.
On my unit the 24 VDC inlet is an IEC C14 chassis mount connector.
I did check and a computer power cord fits correctly.
Is this the same on all units?
Was there a modification to correct this connector misuse?
What were they thinking?
I am disassembling mine and disabling the connector to prevent potential 
disastrous results.
