Hue:

Your question(s) are confusing. You mention the T-784/GRC-109 in the subject line above,
yet say ",,,a lone GRC-9 transmitter..." in the text.

Which is it?

The only device "...just below the power cable on the front panel left..." on the T-784 is the
pilot/tuning lamp. The top of the socket can be twisted closed to prevent any tight from it
being seen by an enemy.

And there IS a "socket" in the T-784 for a dessicant cylinder. As I remember it, that is on the
right side of the case, but I could be "misremembering"..

I have two T-784s here which I could dig out and examine for details.

And there are a total of 16 phillips-head screws holding the front panel of later models of the
T-784 to its case, all of the same size, and there are no 4 "larger" ones in the corners,

The COVERS for earlier models of the radio do have 4 larger screws in them at the corners,
in which case, the corner holes in the radio case are ARE larger.. Later models have "snap
fasteners" to hold the cover onto the radio.

Breck's photos are for the later model T-784.

FYI, the covers for the T-784 had a gasket so designed that the radio could be buried or
submerged safely.

So, again, which radio are you talking about?

You might post a photo of your radio to the forum for us to see.
