Perhaps, but, maybe an AMBC loading coil, with 9' of stainless steel
whip may help over the typical 39" job.

I used a 9' whip, with no coil at all on an old sports car, made a HUGE
difference in reception. Of course, it could have just been the much
larger "aperture" for reception, 102", compared to 39".

I also used one to monitor AM in my old truck, but that with an Icom
IC-706MKII and 12 foot whip, so no real A/B comparison, as there was no
factory antenna for the stereo.

Where I live, everything is fringe, so I was thinking, just the 102"
whip could help, then I read about an AMBC coil, so thought I'd try
that, too, if I can find one.

XYL is looking for something for 660 kHz, but I was thinking of loading
up the cargo rack on her little SUV, maybe a filter, even a pre-amp if
necessary, as she doesn't want a huge whip.
