Subject: [Milsurplus] ART 13 mount completed and a parts request
Does anybody have an intact and nicely labeled front cover panel for the ART 13 TU they are willing to part with? Does anybody know of a restorer that can redo that part, paint and labels?
I finished my home made mounts for the ART 13, I hope the pix make it, and believe the number is MT284. There were 2 mounts I know of, one that was a pan with shock mounts, MT198 I think, and one as many have, a pan bolted to the bottom of the ART 13, MT283. The MT284's were bolted to the aircraft and the ART 13 with its MT283 set on it and was secured. Found these plan at AAFRADIO, but cheated. I had purchased a few mounts of various kinds from Fair Radio years ago to be able to get the hold downs and shock mounts from them for the B17 project when needed. So, instead of making my own as in the plans, just retrieved a couple that were the proper size. I also did not build the custom pin guide for the back out of stainless. This required two parts and to be secured by peening over such that it had some play in the hole it was mounted in. I have a lot of 1/4 shaft bushings that simpulated that just fine and were a perfect fit for the pins. The hardest part was bending the .063 aluminum, neither my brake nor my sons would do it, but I did get the bends started, and finished up using 3" X 1/4" thick angle iron pieces to finish them up. So, I am ready now for any flights or earthquakes.
