What about ironing them, or similar?

Hot water, lay a sheet of aluminum over them, then run an iron over that 
to "re-set" them?

I've seen plenty with the issue, but never played with reversing the 
process.

Anyone else here part if the "SCARS" forum, Southern California Antique 
Radio Society?

I bet more than a few there have had to deal with the issue.
