Both antennas can be connected but that was not the intent of the 
design. BTW there is no "secret" or hidden internal plunger or 
micro-switch to be activated when an antenna is inserted. I've discussed 
the antenna system in Part 1 of my PRC-10 series.  As "Scrathi" would 
say there is no "switchi".
