Hi Dave,

Yes.
A RACAL RA239 had low sensitivity.
The filter in the RF pre-amplifier was missing a terminating resistor.
The PCB pads were there but never soldered,
the resistor was never fitted.
A new resistor and it was very sensitive now.
Factory fault.
An AWA built PRC-F1 HF backpack had noisy audio and poor frequency
stability.
On one of the frequency synthesiser multiplier cards
it had a wrong resistor fitted
and the multiplier was having trouble
jumping all over the place.
Factory fault.
Also in a different PRC-F1 backpack,
The sensitivity was low on 2 or 3 of the frequency bands.
The RF tracking was poor on those ranges
and it was difficult to align properly.
The wrong value disc ceramics were fitted
which messed up the frequency tuning.
The correct values, it aligned correctly, good sensitivity.
Factory fault.
An RF Communications RF301 HF transceiver had poor transmit power.
The negative bias was low, due to an electrolytic fitted backwards.
Depot repair fault.
That is all I can think of at the moment.
regards
Ray
