On this side of the pond Durocell AA batteries are made in Belgium. I've 
gone through about 100 in the past year without a problem. Durocell 9V 
are made in Malaysia, Energizer Plus AA made in Singapore but C size 
made in USA. Panasonic brand made in Thailand and Kodak brand were the 
only one's made in China. Most of the brands bought in a dollar store 
enviroment were dead before they couild leak.
