[Milsurplus] Can anyone ID these Aussie HF Intercept Receivers (used in Vietnam)

DaveIn the dark recesses of memory, I think that quite a few R-391s were sent to Australia.  Don't remember the reason why, but I am sure that there is a good story to go along with it.
Seems that over zealous repairmen over lubricated every R-390A I have ever had.  Removing the layers of old grease using acid brushes on a stick and alternating between 409, WD-40 and a water rinse left the gears clean.  Spot lubing pivot points on the gear shafts with a small drop of synthetic oil and re-centering the MC and KC bushings on the front panel allows the gear train to rotate quite smoothly,  No more R-390A wrist!

Given that the R-391 autotune system takes 15 seconds to change frequency (count down to 00 000 then count up to desired preset), does it make sense to use them for monitoring multiple channels?  It would reduce operator fatigue (R-390 wrist) and perhaps that's the reason.
Most listening posts I've heard about used R-390/R-390As.

I think you are correct.  The picture is blurry.  Especially if you blow it up.  The configuration looks more like an R-391 versus an R-390.

Looking at the second operator from the right, there appears to be a cluster of four knobs just below the LINE meter.  That fourth knob would be the CHANNEL SELECTOR which would make the radios  R-391s.Jim

The photo looks strange but they they are all R-390 or R-390A.  There is something mounted above them.  Maybe a TTY demodulator.  I am not sure. Tom
