[Milsurplus] WW2 US Navy transmitters made in Australia

HF, 100w (813 output), "semi-portable" Philips SVC 100L/110 - about 300 of
them were made for the US Navy by Philips in Sydney around 1944. What were
they used for?
Has anyone seen a photo of one in use?
