Man, you all are a tough crowd. For the last ten years or so have gone out for the Dayton Hamvention a day early and make it a point to hit Midwest Electronic Surplus and then out to Lima to go to Fair Radio. Anyone who knows me understands that I am cheap. I always drag along something to trade with Fair Radio and most often end up with dealing with Phil, in all my dealings he has always asked if I was satisfied and for the most part I am but have also seen and been subject to the fact that the people working at the counter will only go by the prices in the catalog, its often the things that are not in the catalog where you get the best deal.
Don't know about all the other places but will always remember the decades of the Fair Radio catalogs and being a kid back in the seventies and that catalog being something I would drool over again and again and ordering things from them like my first DAV for under $20
Like I said about the Hamvention, it's all what you take from it and that's biases on your own personal experience.
This is the first year in at least ten that I have not gone out to Fair Radio and all this just makes me miss it more.
