Hello Jack,
I have had a Bendix fetish for many years. Reason is that as a young ham
of 16, with no money, an RA-10 was all I could afford for a receiver.
Fair Radio had them for $32.95, but for $22.95 you could get the limited
coverage FD version that eliminated the BC band. That is what I got, and
used it for a few years as a tunable IF for my 144 MHz converter. I
always loved the cool look of the tunable control box. It took me many
years to find another one. Along the way, I got an MN-26C and a RA1B as
well. Mine are all restored and working FB. I use the MN-26C to pipe
music into my workshop. I found a local radio station with no ads that
plays 40's and 50's music all day. I guess I still have a Bendix fetish,
but am being realistic about it. I am at a point in my life when I
should be off loading stuff!!
