[Milsurplus] [Army-Radios] TBX-2 question

A lower case letter (such as "a") indicates a usually minor modification to
the original set.  My assumption has been that in all or maybe nearly all
such cases, existing stocks are modified but if the same modification were
made on production units, either the Navy Type Number (5-digits) or the set
number (one or two digits) would be revised.  Either an upper case letter or
a new number.

Are you saying this net switch on the -4 is original?

Here's the -4a, which is, I think, same as -5. Why they named it -4a, I have
no idea.

TBX-2 question

 

On my TBX-4 there's a single bat handle toggle switch, arranged to switch
left and right. Below it is the label ON-OFF and above it NET.  Certainly a
momentary switch would do the same thing if the circuit hasn't been altered.
