Hue,

The TBX-4a had a extended transmitter frequency range of 2000 to 5800 kc. The TBX-4 had a transmitter frequency range of 2000 to 4525 kc. This info is contained in Supplement #4 of the Preliminary Instruction Book for Navy Model TBX-4.

Are you saying this net switch on the -4 is original?

Here's the -4a, which is, I think, same as -5. Why they named it -4a, I have no idea.

    TBX-2 question

On my TBX-4 there's a single bat handle toggle switch, arranged to switch left and right. Below it is the label ON-OFF and above it NET. Certainly a momentary switch would do the same thing if the circuit hasn't been altered.
