they don't want hard cover books in the paper dumpster
Do you know why that is? I've wondered myself. Is it perhaps because of the covers & binding not being suitable to their pulping process or is it the paper itself (which tends to be higher quality stuff).

You're correct on the computers. There have been reports of people hacking into hard drives.

People have been bringing in bicycles and so many toys in good shape that the town has set up an area where you can take them.

A book exchange has also been set up. One if the reasons is they don't want hard cover books in the paper dumpster.

When I started most of the electronics were CRT televisions and desktop computers. These days the TV sets are mostly plasma sets.

Our town recycling center is supposedly the only one in the state which accepts the polystyrene packing foam. They compress the stuff. In the beginning the center was overwhelmed with the packing foam; it looked like a white avalanche.

I used to go to the recycling center every other week. Since the town started curbside recycling I only go occasionally. I am amazed of the piles of stuff people bring in. Let's assume a small percentage of people recycle. How much stuff is thrown away?
