Our recycling center accepts electronics. The rule of thumb is it that one cannot remove items, especially computers, from the container. They are strict about the computer rule but more lenient for other electronics, It something is worth taking one place sit at the front of the container.
I spotted this hulk laying on it's side. See attached picture.
Among other goodies I have rescued are the chassis of an Atwater Kent radio, a high end casette deck and audio amplifiers.
I asked about communications equipment such as scanners or CB radios. The workers say they the town Emergency Management personnel take them.
The other container of interest is the paper dumpster. One finds lots of books and magazines there. One day I saw a commotion around the container with workers actually walking in the container. Someone got rid of an extensive collection of Playboy magazines dating back to the 1950's.
Anyway, the rescued hulk's looks clean, tuning and bandswitch knobs have a smooth action and the unit looks complete. Are there any questionable components I should check before powering it up?
