Your correspondent's desires are more than just a little quixotic.
This is what is needed for a single-receiver local-control SCR-274-N BCB receiver installation:
a. BC-946-B Receiver .52 to 1.5 MHz
b. FT-260-A Local Control Adapter for BC-946-B
c. ARC 6743 Local Tuning Control for BC-946-B
d. DM-32-A Dynamotor for BC-946-B
e. FT-231-A Shock Mount for FT-233-A
f. FT-233-A Single Receiver Rack
g. PL-147-A DC Power Connector for FT-233-A
h. PL-192 Local Control Adapter Plug for FT-233-A
Components b, c, e, f, and h are typically harder to find than is the BC-946-B.
Then there's the issue of antenna and audio configuration for a set that was never ever employed in any military vehicle.
IMHO, even $1000 would be barely enough to cover the costs, and finding everything could literally take years. It took me 50 years just to find two FT-260-A local control adapters, and I've come across only one PL-192 in all that time (from August Link).
Very very few knowledgeable people would be willing to spend the time and money to have such a bogus installation in a land vehicle.
It would be kindness to point out these facts to dispel your correspondent's mistaken concept about what he seeks.
Tell him: "Get a boom box at a yard sale for your hobby-time entertainment."
FWIW, here is the complete list of "command set" broadcast band receivers:
---> 0.52 to 1.50 MHz
RAV CBY-46103 For liaison receiver service
ARA CBY-46145 For ZB-* homing adapter
SCR-274-N BC-946-B For AN/ARR-1 VHF homing adapter
AN/ARC-5 R-24/ARC-5 For AN/ARR-1 VHF homing adapter
or AN/ARN-9 Air-Track ILS
A.R.C. Type 12 R-10A For BCB DF loop or general reception
---> 0.54 to 1.60 MHz
A.R.C. Type 12 R-22 For BCB DF loop or general reception
For your correspondent's purposes, the last receiver would be the best and simplest (but still bogus) choice. It requires:
R-22 Receiver .54 to 1.60 MHz
C-57 Control Panel (remote control only)
D-10A Dynamotor
M-12A Mount
Plus two power/control plugs, BNC RF connector, and a MC-215 style tuning spline cable.
