that I don't want you to miss. Follows quote from 3 posts:

At the beginning of 1944 the OSS learned that Emerson had produced 12,000 of the RBZ.
Of these 5,800 were available. By March of 1944 2,500 had been modified and shipped to Europe for SOE/OSS use.

BTW, i have never seen an actual photo or read any account of U.S. Marines using the thing. I suppose most, almost all, were surplused unused after the war.
Also, kind of interesting is that the "two" manuals are identical except for a front cover stamp with the new frequency range. I suppose repair of the 'Special'
was not actually considered likely or practical.
Disintegration of the headphone and power cords is a common problem with these sets.
FYI, for anyone doing mechanical work on the dial system, Mark Francis in one of his 'Mil Spec Radio Gear' books advises that the dial scale is radium
painted.
