Sorry you got burned on the BC611M. I though I just read a story about a someone making and selling these for nostalgia or re-enactors. And I just saw an tech article about using this exact one and putting a 2 meter handy talkie in it, not sure now if it was QST or ER magazine or even an online blog.
I have some big surplus gear that cost more to ship than they are worth too. But I can't just see trashing them as they are all in working condition so will be with me until the end. Shipping rates are to the point for most heavy items, it is cheaper to drive it a few hundred miles and meet the buyer and pay the gas bill, even at $3+ a gallon. With the demise of real hamming, the only hope is that some time in the future when after using the ether for a ham version of WIFI and all the datamode folks have had their computers work them all, log them, and get a digital QSL, they will go 'what's to do next', and maybe learn about electronics and the joy of building, repairing, and putting a real 250 pounds of transmitter on the air.
