[Milsurplus] Heterodyne Frequency Meters

Hi Sam,
At the risk of being word nerdy (?), I would
submit that a heterodyne frequency meter is a
piece of test equipment. A component is, per
Merriam Webster,
"<https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/element>element,
<https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/component>component,
<https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/constituent>constituent,
<https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ingredient>ingredient
mean one of the parts of a compound or complex
whole". This means that a component is part of an
assembly and if you remove it the thing it is
part of become "non whole". A heterodyne
frequency meters is for testing and once that
testing is completed can be removed from the
radio it is being used to test while the radio is still "whole".

And technically, I do not think they can be
categorized as "Used With but Not Part Of". A
radio does not "use" the heterodyne frequency
meter for any of it's functions, it is an
external frequency source used for the
calibration of the radio. The radio works just
fine without it. A Panadapter would be an example
of "used with but not part of".

Just my 2c
