I went on a hunt for some info on a piece of equipment I have, a Beacon Band receiver that is part of a bigger unit. Since it was stamped as 'US Army Radio Range Receiver (Automatic) Model M1, the first thing that comes up is everything you wanted to know about the Garand. The I found a manual called the The US Army in WWII, Technical Services, Ordnance Procurement, where I learned several things like, in the quantity of small arms ammo acquired by the US Army Logistics, they quantified the number of rounds obtained by saying you could fire 20 round every minute, of every hour, of every day, all year long and you would not run out for 40 centuries, yes 4000 years. That's a lot of ammo. But I changed my wording and found 3 books, downloadable for free, or pay 35 bucks a copy on Amazon, with the same first part of the title, but 'The Signal Corp' instead of Ordnance. The 3 books cover the years before, during and at the end of the war, titled, 'The Emergency', 'The test', and 'The Outcome'. I have looked through them a bit, not dug into them yet, but looks like a lot of interesting stuff of all the stuff we love to restore. Perhaps some of you already knew about these books, I did not until now. Search engine the first book with 'The Signal Corp The Emergency, and the other two by : 'The US Army in WWII, Technical Services, Signal Corp' and add 'test' and 'outcome' at the end on 2 different searches and they will come up, ignore the Amazon site, look for the lead in: https://history.army.mil/. All 3 books are between 500+ and 700+ page each.
