Hi Ray!

A very interesting article.    That would be a resistive evaporation 
process, which makes sense as it's quick and good enough for what is 
needed to make contacts on a quartz crystal. It doesn't take a super 
high vacuum either.   But if I had a vacuum system I'd want one good 
enough to make vacuum tubes ;-)
