For over ten years now M&S Net on 5.357 USB http://www.mrca.ar88.net/Old%20Pages/Net/MandS.html

Or the MMRCG Net on 7.296 The MRCA Nets for AM on 3.885 AM Saturday and the CW Net on 3.570 Sunday

http://www.mrca.ar88.net/Nets/default.html

And field radio events for low power back pack sets at events like Dayton, Gilbert, MVPA events and many of the larger Ham Fest on 3.885, 51.0 FM and 144.250 AM

We have had WW2 themed 3.886 AM backpack and handheld radio nets at the Dayton Hamvention for around twenty years now on Saturdays along with 51.0 FM Cold War themed nets. The WW2 AM Nets may feature the largest working group of BC-611 radios that has been assembled in the last fifty years with at least half a dozen to twelve or more taking part each year.

It’s not uncommon for there to be at least twenty to thirty people running sets as diverse as BC-611, DAV/MAB, TBX and GRC-9 sets with net control being anything from ARC-5, TCS or larger sets. Think last year they went with a GRC-19 set in the back of a station wagon.

At Gilbert / Red Ball MVPA event every year MRCA runs net control from the event on Saturday and field exercises are carried out at Beltsville Lake on 5.357, 51.0 and 144.250 AM We also did NPOA event using all military equipment from there last year.

There are events out there that are centered around using military hardware, we do occasionally have people check in with non military equipment but for the most part its all military when you consider that most Ham equipment don’t play well with wide band FM or VHF AM. On average we will have one or two non military radios on the 60 meter net so there are things happening.

Would think that 60 meters would be best selection for a national calling frequency although there is sometimes an issue with the digital stations but they have been off most of the time we have the scheduled net.
