It is impossible to find a consumer - electronics  products telescopic antenna that is not shiny, so this was just something that I felt could not be helped.

     A minor point but I bring it to your attention for the sake of accuracy.  The BC-611's telescopic antenna is not shiny chrome plated, but is dull nickel plated.  I presume that's to minimize attracting attention on the battle field.  FWIW.
