I had this same problem on a pristine, unmolested by anyone, dynamotor PS intact, BC348 I picked up for a B17F restoration project. Pristine except for the missing ID plate. I had a junker of the same series and used it, but. be prepared for a job that is tougher than it seems. The rivets are hard to drill out, start with a small drill bit and work up to keep it from not taking off and screwing up the tag. If you are a purist and want to rivet it back on, well, you won't be a purist when you realize you have to remove the front panel to do that. I cheated and used machine screws, smoothed their heads to look like a rivet using a belt sander, and installed it with lock washers and nuts.
