That's a thought that it may be an Overtone oscillator and not just a basic crystal oscillator but how do you tell the difference? Would assume if it were an overtone it would be a X2 and no0t a X3 so can get away with a rock for 1942.5 but have no idea how you determine an Overtone from an regular? Maybe it has something to do with the tube that's used? The original crystals were huge holders that would assume had huge slabs of quartz so maybe they used a two or three times overtone for stability and ease of manufacture back before the war?

Don't have an MAK manual, but may be similar to the 12A6 osc. in the TCS.
That one does not work well (or at all) with fundamental crystals over, IIRC, somewhere around 2.5 MC. It wants to double and triple to get to 80 and 40 meters and fundamental rocks in the 4 or 7 MC range won't oscillate.
Sorry I'm not near the manuals at the moment- someone will have the reference handy.
