I adore finding inscriptions like that inside radios.
Have found several.  And left a few myself.

Coolest thing I ever found in a radio:
An ART-13 that came from the barn of a
"Third of the First" Intel officer who was
on Guadalcanal:  A complete-less explosives
WWII Japanese hand grenade.
