SCR-245 BC-223 Transmitters, Accessories Need New Home
I went out to "The Cave" yesterday and there, his black robe
blending into the shadows, his hour glass with the sand
ever running slung on his hip, his arms crossed and an even
more cross expression on his pinched face, Father Time stood,
tapping his booted foot on the floor:
"Boy, How many times I got to remind you
that you ain't gonna live forever? No way
you're going to get around to playing with
all these toys. Look at this mess!
How about *this* one?", pointing to a
shelf that looked three ounces from collapse.
(Why does he always sound like the sheriff
from "Smokey and the Bandit?")
"You got a Command Car, boy? You ever
going to get one? NO! So why is this pile sitting
here and someone who needs it doing without?
Huh? Speak up, Boy!
I ain't got all day to fool with you.
See my Appointment book? How many pages
you think I'm gonna turn before your name makes
it to the top of my "Get'im" list?
Boy, don't let me catch this pile here next time
or I'll be turning some pages!"
Father Time is not know for either patience or mercy,
and I do need the shelf space, so...
I have two BC-223 transmitters, the Vibrator power supply,
a dynamotor, a couple of plugs, and several tuning units,
some of which need to be reassembled. I *think* I have
all three varieties. Don't remember if there's a shock mount;
probably not. I have had at least one of the transmitters
on-the-air using Ben Hall's adaptors and 6AQ5 tubes.
I *think* I tested them both. Worked well.
These have no tubes now, sorry- installed those in SCR-183.
The vibrator supply has leakage to ground in the transformer
but all the switching stuff works right. I haven't worked with
the dynamotor yet.
I will gift all this to a mil-radio or mil-vehicle person who
is willing to meet me somewhere in the Dallas area
and will give me his word he will at least work with it some.
I can put it all in boxes, stamp it "get around to it" and wait
for the grand kids to throw it in the dump as well as
the next guy without going to all this trouble.
If I don't hear from anyone in a day or two,
I'll just Ebay it or give it to Jim Sargent for
his next auction.
