So how physically large and weight are these transmitters ?
Where does the hardware go when they are decommissioned ? 
The only one I saw the aftermath of was a 1938 beacon decommissioned somewhere around 1985, this
in Montana. It was a full rack size, I mean about 6 foot tall. I think it had a 3 - letter model designation,
starting with a "T", altho not a Navy equipment, CAA rather.
