[Milsurplus] Partridge Electronics ' V.F.A. ' on Navy ship ? Ho ho !

Again triaging paper today, I find a brochure for the 'Partridge VFA "Joystick" Antenna'. Has one photo showing "The V.F.A. fitted at mast head of 50 knot Vosper
built Naval Craft".
If you're not familiar with this funny little episode in radio history, the 'VFA' was a copper pipe pole about 7 foot tall with a loading coil in the middle. The myth
was, "If you get it high up in the air, works as well as your beam antenna". Of course, if you get it high enough, you actually have a vertical antenna topped by a
copper pipe.
Well I'll be damned, even the Royal Navy was taken in by the hype !
