Well, there have been enough posts about this topic that I felt it would not be bad if I shared a few of mine. My first experience with getting shocked was when I was about 1 years old. Believe it or not, I remember it as if it was yesterday and I am 74 now. At the time we were living in Hungary and my mother was changing my diapers on a table close to the window in our apartment that had an AC out let within my arms reach. The sockets there were round and 220 volts. Needless to say, my tiny fingers at the time found those holes. Obviously, I survived Since that time I really felt I had electrons in my blood and is why I became an engineer. In the meantime I also had many other close encounters, but, I must have the busiest Guardian Angel around. Y worst experience was about 50 years ago. I had a KW amp with a remote PS. I could run it either Class C or linear. One morning I was on the air and wanted to change from one to the other. Besides changing a switch on the front panel, the exciter RF had to be moved from one SO-239 to another. Well, I was in the process of doing that without turning off the HV. The PL-239 was right next to the Millen HV plug from the PS. Well, the HV connector arced through and put a large burn in my finger that was used to unscrew the PL-239. I survived, and the whole room smelled like burned flesh. I even went to work that day but was far from being my usual self. I think besides those incidents that I have the best guardian angel around. 73 – Mike
