Sid, I considered this. But it did not uniformly fail these; it passed 13 of the 87. I also first checked a few other crystals, including one at 187 kHz.
The result actually agrees with what other people have found. Even if some that failed were marginal, the fail rate is too high for these to be
considered for putting in a project.
BTW, this tester has two sections, one for <1 MHz and one >1 MHz. I found the low freq position actually tested common FT-243 and larger up
to around 2.5 MHz, but wouldn't pass the common higher freq SSB boat radio crystals.

Hue, Tom and I discovered that the cheap Chinese crystal tester needs to be modified to be reliable at certain frequencies. Don't jump to conclusions until you confirm with other means.
