[Milsurplus] Unidentified object

Hi Tom,

I'm thinking pilots survival radio, /a la/ PRC-90.  The "belt loops" 
would go on your parachute harness. They generally transmit "voice" or 
"tone" (MCW).  Does the short shaft look like it could actuate some 
piece of electronics inserted into the case?   I couldn't find anything 
even vaguely similar via Google.

I must admit it doesn't look very electrical.
