All the BC-347-* amps I have ever seen have holes in the back, Hue. Some 
even have a couple of holes in the front edges as well.

The difference between BC-347-A and BC-347-A (Modified) can be seen in 
the schematics below - the change is in the grid resistor 
configuration.  For contrast the BC-347-C is also shown at the bottom, 
with yet a different grid resistor approach.  The BC-347-A (modified) 
was considered functionally equivalent to the BC-347-C.
