[Milsurplus] Military patch washing ?

This brought to my mind a question: what service did the F.E.N. shortwave broadcasts serve in the early to mid 1960s, when
I heard them ?
Ships at sea? Pacific bases such as Johnston Island and Midway? All of the above ?
I don't really recall the programming, but I am pretty sure it was originated there, not just rebroadcasts of U.S. domestic
syndicated programs.
I told my barber, a man from Malaysia, that I used to listen to BBC Kuching Malaysia. He was amazed. Ah, the good old
golden era of shortwave broadcast.

I bought it because I remember listening to the FEN station on shortwave from Japan. Just want to be
careful, not surprised.
