Jim,
I don't have the M-58/U in my database. So can't actually answer your
question except to say that I'd guess late fifties or early sixties instead
of late sixties or early seventies because I don't think there was any radio
still in service that would take a PL-68 or PJ-068. The microphone that
replaced the T-17 was the M-52/U and later the M-52A/U, which is rectangular
as you describe, with straight cord and PJ-068, and has the carbon element
as a plug-in on the left side.

I picked up a strange one in NOS condition simply because it looked cool...,
and would plug into my AN/GRC-9. Anyone have any ideas it is a hand mic
Bakelite material Rectangular in shape with a slightly angled head where the
mic element is located straight cord with stereo PJ-068 Kings
connector.Looks like late sixties to early Seventy's manufacture.Carbon Mic
M-58/U is it FAA? thanks for any info on this I love to collect mics for my
AN/GRC-9 for some reason.jim KB1PFL
