Wayne, you're free to run with that idea and reap the glory. I think not hard to find such a cap at a hamfest or out of some old VHF equipment. Then measure the capacity and make a dual – labeled
dial, with capacitance and approx freq range of crystal.
Now we need also to add a 10-LED bar graph to the output, to indicate relative output.

It occurred to me that in this circuit, the 2 capacitors could maybe even be replaced by a 2-gang variable of low capacitance.
