[Milsurplus] Odd?..GF TU

I have an ARC tuning unit for the GF xmtr. Its tuning range is 1100 kc - 1250kc and the Serial is:  'X'
Has a date of 7- 1 -41.
Can maybe any of the GF/RU scholars out there shed some light on why  this odd TU freq. range
and why the 'X' serial ? Where there other similar  LF TU's?
